Do you like literature? Are you studying French or are a francophone? Are you in grades 7 to 12? Join « Une page à la fois » to discover classic and contemporary literature and to be part of a community of young and passionate readers who want to converse in French. 

The book club is an ideal opportunity to:

  • join a community of peers who share your interest
  • improve your French communication and understanding
  • listen to diverse perspectives and to share your ideas 
  • use critical thinking 
  • have a chance to win a 25$ gift card whenever you attend a meeting of the book club!

You get to do this in an environment that encourages French communication and broadens your knowledge of French literature.

FAQ

Why should I join this book club?

Une page à la fois book club gives you a wonderful opportunity to practice French  within a community of peers from all over Canada who share your passion for reading and for the French language. You will share your ideas and listen to varied perspectives while developing your communication and your critical thinking skills.

What is the book club’s purpose?

We want to create an environment that encourages the use of French while broadening your horizons in terms of French literature. We also want to give you an outlook on the French language as a tool for self-expression.

Who is this program for?

For students in Grade 7 to 12 who are enrolled in a French course (Immersion, Core French, etc.)

How do I become a member?

To become a member, you need to fill out a short form but you also need to fill out a parental consent form. With your parents, carefully read the Parental Consent Form. In order to upload it when signing up online, you can either print, sign and scan the document or you can fill it and sign it directly in your computer (if you need any help, here is a video tutorial).

I am registered: what now?

You will receive a welcome email with information on the next meeting such as: 

  • a link to access the book for free
  • the club’s meeting date to discuss the book
  • a discussion sheet to prepare you for the book club meeting.

A few days before the meeting date, we will send you the Zoom link to the book club.

Do I have to register more than once?

No. Once registered, you will automatically receive emails with the next books and the Zoom links.

If you want to leave the book club, all you have to do is send an email to  jlb@francais-avenir.org to ask us to remove you from our participants list.
