President: Helen Coltrinari
Helen Coltrinari has worked as a classroom teacher, department head, and school administrator with the former North York Board of Education. She spent two years teaching in Germany with the Department of National Defense in Baden-Baden and on her return taught in the immersion program at the high school level.
In 1987 Ms. Coltrinari was seconded to TVOntario where she worked as an Educational Officer (FSL), Manager of Educational Services and Head of Professional Development and Accreditation. In this capacity she presented hundreds of workshops in television utilization and multimedia design and delivery, both face-to-face and as an on-air host. She has delivered a variety of short courses for educators in workshop design and presentation. In her last position, she was the Head of K-12 Education with responsibilities for online web development (PDOnline. Le Fleuve), and Executive Producer for a number of video series.
She has been an independent education consultant since 2001 and is a instructor at the Masters level in Educational Administration for Brock University in St. Catharines.
Ms. Coltrinari holds a Master’s in French (Toronto) and a Master’s in Education (OISE UT). She is a published author, The Craft of Teaching Adults, co-authoring a chapter on Professional Reflective Journal Writing with Dr. Coral Mitchell of Brock University (plus a video series). She has written classroom materials for Pearson Education Canada, and le Centre Éducatif et Culturel and continues to develop resources for TRALCO-LINGO FUN.
Helen is a past president of The Canadian Association of Second Language Teachers (CASLT). In her spare time she does local community volunteer work for the Cabbagetown Preservation Association and is currently involved with the Cabbagetown Regent Park Museum Project.
She lives in downtown Toronto with her husband, Livio,…and an Border Terrier named Harry – who is the real boss of everything!
