Drew Fagan

Drew Fagan is Deputy Minister responsible for the Pan and Parapan American Games and Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport with the Government of Ontario. He took on these roles in October 2014, as the province prepares to host the Games in summer 2015.

Mr. Fagan previously spent four years as Deputy Minister of Infrastructure, with responsibility for overseeing government-wide capital expenditures.

Mr. Fagan joined the Ontario Public Service in 2009 from the Government of Canada, where he was Assistant Deputy Minister for strategic policy and planning at the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.

Before becoming a public servant and diplomat in 2004, Mr. Fagan worked for many years at The Globe and Mail, where he held numerous senior positions including Parliamentary Bureau Chief in Ottawa, Editorial Page Editor and columnist and Washington correspondent.

Mr. Fagan serves on the advisory boards of the Munk School of Global Affairs at the University of Toronto, the Graduate School of Public Policy at the University of Calgary, the Canadian Club of Toronto and the Literary Review of Canada. He also is chair of the Ontario Government United Way campaign. He was previously a board member of the Centre for International Governance Innovation and the Canadian Tourism Commission.

Mr. Fagan holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Queen’s University and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Western Ontario.
